Solnhofener Plattenkalk
Solnhofener Plattenkalk limestone is a finely bedded, dense limestone from Germany. It may contain plant-like looking structures, but these are actually inorganically formed mineral precipitates (called dendrites). The stone is also world famous for often very well preserved fossils, such as Archaeopteryx.
